Marco was born and raised in San Francisco, California, shortly after his parents had emigrated from Tuscany and become successful Bay Area restaurateurs. Along with wonderful Italian meals, wine was an everyday part of their North Beach household life. As a result, Marco inherited his family's appreciation for great wine and food.

Marco developed an in-depth knowledge of winemaking and viticulture through education and experience in the industry. He graduated with a degree in Fermentation Science from the University of California at Davis in 1985.

Now, as a wine industry veteran, Marco has been able to turn his attention to consulting for a handful of wineries in the North Coast region. His list of clients includes both well established and new wineries such as Girard, Shannon Ridge, as well as some new projects in development. His wealth of experience and love of winemaking enables him to craft the finest wines from the rugged landscape that provides his inspiration.

Mike joined the Shannon ridge team stating August 1, 2007. Prior to joining Shannon Ridge, Wood was employed by Langtry Estate & Vineyards for the past 22 years. Most recently he worked as the brand's winemaker for its California wine line for the last seven years.

Before that, Wood was the production manager for more than 10 years, and served as assistant winemaker at Langtry Estate & Vineyards.

Additionally, he had worked as the winemaker for Mount St. Helena Vineyards and Winery in Middletown for the past six years.

Wood is also the winemaker for his own wine label, Shed Horn Cellars, also located in Middletown.

A longtime resident of Lake County, Wood lives in Cobb Mountain with his wife Adawn, also an employee at Shannon Ridge, and their two daughters.
