2011 High Elevation Sauvignon BlancGOLD MEDAL - 2013 Dallas Morning News Wine Competition SILVER MEDAL - 2013 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition SILVER MEDAL - 2013 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Wine Competition 90 Points - The Tasting Panel September 2012 “Fresh, ripe and dense with herbs, minerals and lively fruit; smooth, peachy and balanced; long and vibrant.” (Anthony Dias Blue) 86 Points - Wine Enthusiast July 2012 "An explosion of gooseberry comes first, followed by layers of creamy apricot fuzz and lemongrass, trailed by Lake County’s typical acidity. This has balance and texture." —V.B. 89 Points - Connoisseurs' Guide August 2012 "Taking full advantage of the vintage in its lower alcohol, elevated acidity approach, this bottling pulls off the trick that has proven to be difficult for so many of its mates by delivering a very ample supply of brisk, grassy admittedly pungent and admirably solid fruitiness. It may be a wine 'of a style' but it is accomplished in its chosen style and even enjoys a nice sense of weight without ever being heavy. And, as good as it is now, it is the kind of wine that can age into better with cellaring." SILVER - Sunset International Wine Competition 2012 GOLD - Riverside International Wine Competition 2012 SILVER - San Francisco International Wine Competition 2012 88 Points - i-WineReview.com July 2012 "This is a refreshing wine with nettles and freshly cut grass on the nose. The palate is lightly flavored with light asparagus and even passion fruit notes, but the virtue of this wine is its freshness, bracing acidity, and long finish. The perfect wine to accompany a lunchtime salad on the patio." |
2011 High Elevation ChardonnaySILVER MEDAL - 2013 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition * 88 Points - Connoisseurs' Guide January 2013 Ripe golden apples are very much at center stage here while a good dollop of creamy oak lends a boost in overall richness. The wine steers away from high acid and is instead slightly viscous, but it never becomes sluggish or overly soft. While it may not be one that we would pour with fresh oysters, and we would not recommend a lengthy stay in the cellar, it will make a most enjoyable companion to simple roast chicken right now. SILVER - Sunset International Wine Competition 2012 87 Points - Wine Enthusiast Magazine Buying Guide December 2012 Nuanced yet straightforward, this is deliciously simple in its approach. Notes of honey, vanilla and stone fruit shine most brightly, and the finish teases with a tropical misting of coconut. —V.B. |

88 Points - i-WineReview.com July 2012 "Light tropical and vanilla notes grace the nose and palate of this flavorful Chardonnay. Quite straightforward in nature, it’s the kind of wine that easily glides down the throat."

2010 High Elevation Petite SirahGOLD Medal - 2013 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Wine Competition 87 Points - Wine Enthusiast Buying Guide November 2012 Grown in the High Valley appellation within Lake County, this is huge, black and packed with blackberry and blueberry flavors. It’s decadent like a blueberry pie topped with chocolate sauce. Ready to drink now. —V.B.

2010 High Elevation Cabernet Sauvignon86 Points - Wine Enthusiast October 2012 "Made from grapes grown at a high elevation, this Cabernet tastes of oaky plum and has a slight layer of sage in the background that rounds out the wine. Aged in French and American oak, it’s ready to drink now, as its cherry and raspberry flavors are currently shining." —V.B. |
2009 Single Vineyard ViognierSILVER - 2010 Houston Livestock Competition
89 Points - iWineReview.com July 2012 "White peach and a touch of litchi grace the nose of this single vineyard Viognier, while the palate is creamy smooth with flavors of ripe honeydew melon, finishing long and soft with a spicy hint of white pepper."
|
2009 Single Vineyard Two Bud ZinfandelSILVER MEDAL - 2013 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition * 87 Points - Connoisseurs' Guide January 2013 This very ripe, but reasonably well-balanced Zin is admittedly a bit of a showboat, and its sensations of sweet fruit are sweetened further still by lots of evident oak, yet for all of its immediacy, its direct flavors stay the course on the palate even though back-palate tannins and heat make a play for attention. It may or may not find more range with age, but it is just rough enough that we would like to see it rest for a couple of more years. SILVER MEDAL - 2013 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Wine Competition |
2009 Single Vineyard Roussanne87 Points - Connoisseurs Guide July 2012 "Here is a full and viscous Roussanne...rich and almost unctuous, sweet-melon fruit...firming acidity does its job and keeps the wine from becoming too thick and top heavy..." 86 Points - Wine Enthusiast August 2012 "A full-bodied Roussanne, this tastes like vanilla custard and pineapple. It shows the influence of its 13% Viognier and French oak aging." —V.B.
89 Points - iWineReview.com July 2012 "This single vineyard wine from the Morine Ranch reveals ripe stone fruit on the nose with notes of dried herbs and chamomile. The palate is round, full, and nicely balanced, finishing long with a viscous honeyed note. Serve this wine near room temperature; too cold and the subtle aromas and flavors don’t have a chance."

2009 Single Vineyard Petite SirahSILVER MEDAL - 2013 Dallas Morning News Wine Competition GOLD MEDAL - 2013 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition 89+ Points - iWineReview.com July 2012 "The Petite Sirah is rich and fruit forward with aromas of ripe boysenberry and dark red plum and hints of milk chocolate. On the palate, it’s well structured with fine, ripe tannins, uncomplicated fruit flavors, and a full body. Aged 18 months in half new American oak and half neutral French oak. This is a great wine to pair with smoky barbecue fare." |
2009 Ranch Collection ZinfandelSILVER - San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition Named "Wine of the Week" in Dan Berger's Vintage Experiences July 28, 2011 Issue DOUBLE GOLD - San Francisco International Wine Competition 2012 SILVER - Critics Challenge 2012 SILVER - California State Fair Wine Competition 2012 87 Points - Wine Enthusiast August 2012 "A full, fruity Zinfandel, with dusty tannins and structure. Its lingering finish is laced with notes of chocolate and vanilla. With 7% Petite Sirah mixed in, this would pair nicely with barbecue and other meaty dishes." —V.B.

The wine is easy-drinking with round tannins and would pair well with grilled fare. It should be served at cellar temperature."

2009 Single Vineyard Riesling88+ Points - iWineReview.com July 2012 "The 1400’ high Falconer Ranch is the source of fruit for this single vineyard Riesling, one of the most flavorful we’ve had out of California. The wine is fruity, showing rich, ripe stone fruit and sweet yellow summer melon on the nose and palate. The wine tastes sweeter than the reported 2.9 percent residual sugar, but relatively high acidity gives the wine balance. An excellent wine to pair with spicy Asian food, but serve it very well chilled."
